About ten years ago, while my sister-in-law and I did dishes in my folks’ kitchen, we divulged ideas for books we’d like to write someday. She, a seasoned author and editor, spoke as if writing a novel were the most natural thing in the world. Coming from her, my dream actually sounded possible.
