The Climax of History

On which scripture do we base our greatest hope, that of eternal life?

Isaiah described the vision God gave him of a distant future. He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken.
(Isaiah 25:8)

The next verse made me sit up and take notice, for I don’t remember reading such words as these, which capture the climax of history. “Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.” (Isaiah 25:9, emphasis mine)

Hundreds of years later, Jesus quoted from Isaiah when he said, “For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me, ‘AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH TRANSGRESSORS’; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment.” (Luke 22:37)

“Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”
(Isaiah 53:12, KJV)

Thank God for His love for the world, plan of redemption, and fulfillment!
