The Good News Bible and Good News Bible for Children

When I decided to give my grandkids Bibles of their own, I chose the Good News Bible and Good News Bible for Children because of its reputation as a reliable, easy-to-read translation and for its exquisite line drawings by Swiss artist, Annie Vallotton. In fact, when I was looking for a children’s Bible but kept finding storybooks, I remembered reading a full Bible with line drawings that I loved, and the search led me to the Good News Translation. (Note: The e-book version does not yet include the artwork, unfortunately.)

Both Good News versions include the same translation of the entire Bible. The only difference is the Good News Bible for Children includes 20 full-color pictures in addition to the drawing of a ship on its cover. I gave the Good News Bible with the solid cover (burgundy) to the older kids and the Good News Bible for Children to the younger ones.

Inside the cover of each Bible I tucked a laminated letter with a list of my favorite stories and memory verses.

Dear Ben,
May you read this book so much that its pages will fall out!

Love, Grandma Norma
Note: John 3:16-17 means the book of John, chapter 3, verses 16 through 17.
