How to Get Rid of Wrinkles on the Forehead

What’s the secret for getting rid of wrinkles on the forehead?

First, let me say that I’m blogging about themes involving age and appearance because they keep popping up in my fiction as the top layer of deeper issues. Second, this isn’t the only method* I’ve tried, but it’s the one that works for me. Third, I’m a bit sheepish about using my own Before and After photos, but I couldn’t find another guinea pig.

That said, I learned this tip (and lots of others) for getting rid of wrinkles from Facercise, by Carole Maggio, the 2002 edition.

Carole Maggio says,

To reduce the lines in the forehead or between the eyebrows, you can apply surgical tape on the skin furrows before going to bed.” (page 117)

Isn’t that simple? The only thing I’d like to add is that I’ve found that cellophane tape, which costs less, works just as well as surgical tape.

3 Clear Tape

A friend told me about Facercise five years ago when I had deep furrows between my brows that made a smile look like a grimace. So at first I wore tape nearly every night. After a couple of months, however, I noticed the smoothing effect seemed to accumulate. Now I wear tape only as needed, maybe one or two times a week.

I apply one piece of tape over one furrow, being careful not to stretch or crease the skin, and I put another piece of tape on the other side, which forms an X. Sometimes I put a piece horizontally over the crosswise wrinkles.

Today I wore the tape for an hour between the Before and After photos because I forgot to wear it last night. I hope you can see the improvement. Sometimes, the tape leaves its own impression, but it fades soon enough.

If you know of other cool tips, I’d love to hear them. Thanks!

*Once I tried to reduce wrinkles by pressing them with the back of a very warm spoon (heated in water like an ice cream scoop), but it didn’t have much effect.

  1. Recently, I saw the phrase “bangs or Botox” as the solution to forehead wrinkles! I’m not ready for either and may try your tape idea.

    1. Wow – that catchy phrase shows how strong the media is and sure doesn’t leave room for other solutions. Thanks for commenting, Diane! I hope you’ll let me know if you try the tape.
